How to Keep A Cleaner Home

There is never a bad time to decide that you want to get your home in a neat, tidy, and clean order. We always start out strong and think that we are going to do the dishes each night before bed, keep the sink clear of dirty dishes, and to keep any and all rooms tidy and clear of clutter at all times.

Keeping your house clean is a good way to keep your peace of mind. It can also help with your mental and physical health as well, for you and your family. When you live in a sanitary and clean house, this helps keep away viruses and infections. Also, when your house is nice and clean, this gives you the opportunity to focus on other things you want to do or get done in your life! When you need to clean, every once and awhile, it won’t be a huge task to undertake, but merely a quick task.

Even though you might feel like having a nice, clean space is unobtainable, it actually isn’t! All you need is a little encouragement that will get you going in the right direction. This is where our team at Madam Clean Services comes in, to give you all the much-needed house cleaning services!

Get Rid of the Clutter

Spring isn’t the only time for cleaning. As you attempt to find space for all these new things, stop for a minute and take a look at the things you already have. If there are certain things you already have, think about getting rid of what you don’t use, in order to have more room for the new things you got. This goes for clothes, electronics, and any other gadgets. Instead of throwing out the things you don’t use or want anymore, try taking them to a goodwill, second-hand store, donation box, or a thrift store. If you have any toys that are completely broken and missing crucial parts, these are ok to throw in the garbage, no need to donate something that doesn’t work.

Details Are Important

There are certain cleaning tasks that we can forget to do and don’t do them often enough. We aren’t just talking about vacuuming and dishes; we are talking about getting every little detail cleaned in the house. You might remember to dust the obvious places like your end tables, but what about something more subtle, like your closet shelves? Or you might remember to wash the bathtub, but forget the shower curtain. It is a good idea to take a hard look at each room in your house and make a checklist of all the things, big and small, that need to be done. There are other places that are seldom thought of to clean, these include things like wiping the inside of drawers, dusting above doorways, sanitizing all cleaning supplies, and wiping under the sink. When cleaning the cleaning supplies, you need to remember to clean out your vacuums hose and filters and wash all brushed and bristle brooms with soapy hot water.

Check the Quality of Your House Air

When going around your home, inspect the batteries on all carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors. Test them to ensure they are charged and working properly. It is also important to test for radon. It is a gas that is odorless and colourless that is known to cause roughly 21,000 deaths from lung cancer each year in the US. You should be able to go online and purchase specialty testing kits from a provincial radon program. It is important to keep on top of replacing your furnace filters and cleaning out all the ducts and vents. This is especially important for your dryer because fires are known to start from lint build up on the inside. The last place to check vents is on the outside of your house, make sure they are clear of debris and aren’t covered by anything.

Make It A Habit

Most people are not super tidy naturally. It is something you have to work on consciously in order to stay on top of it. Type B people tend to not be neat freaks, so, this means that practicing keeping a clean space is necessary. If you can think about what messes bother you the most, whether it’s the clutter or dirty dishes piled up in the sink, or toys all over the floor of the house, then you can find a way to try and keep these messes at bay on a daily basis. It is good to make a list and try to clean whatever is on that list for only 15 minutes a day. It only takes 21 days to form a habit. If you manage to stick to this short daily cleaning routine, soon enough it will feel natural and your house will stay clean.
