Easy To Use Home Cleaning Hacks

Our team here at Madam Clean would like to go over some easy home cleaning hacks you can use daily to keep your house cleaner!

One At A Time

Sometimes, cleaning tasks can feel overwhelming when there are multiple things to get done. One way to ease the stress is to pick a room and a cleaning task and do a little cleaning every time you go in there. This could be something like decluttering your office or the kitchen. It doesn’t matter how “small” the one thing is you do, little by little, it will get cleaned and it won’t seem like such a big job if you do it in stages. For the office example, the one small thing you can do the next time you go in there is straighten some papers.

Time Yourself

Most often, cleaning can seem like it takes a superfluous amount of time out of your day to do. This can lead you to putting off certain tasks like vacuuming or sweeping. To put things into perspective, the next time you need to do something like vacuum, time yourself to see how long it actually takes. You might find it takes less time to do one cleaning task than you think.

Start At the Top

One of the best things to do when cleaning is start at the top of the room and work your way to the bottom. Going in any other order will make more work for yourself. The first thing you should do is dust from top to bottom, then wipe the tables, then sweep/vacuum/mop the floor. This flow of events will streamline your cleaning and make less work for yourself.

Don’t Be Afraid to Use Vinegar

Some people are hesitant to use vinegar in their cleaning routine. But it is actually a great cleaning product and will clean 85% of the surfaces you use it on. All you need is some hot water, a splash of vinegar and your cleaning tool like a scrub brush or a towel.

Grime Takes Time

For dirty things like soap scum, toilet grime, and shower grime, the cleaning products needed to clean them actually take 3-5 minutes to properly activate and eat away at these nasty things. The proper way to clean things like stoves, toilets, and showers is to spray the appropriate cleaning product and let it sit for 3-5 minutes and then come back and scrub them down.

Daily Tidying

In order to minimize the amount you need to clean in one session, getting into the habit of sweeping or vacuuming daily will help to drastically reduce the time it takes you to clean as a whole. Not to mention that when your floor looks (and is) clean, the rest of the house will look better and cleaner.

Discarding Items

Half the reason clutter happens is that people are holding onto things that could be thrown away. This includes things like paper, napkins, envelopes, and old receipts. These are things that you don’t need, so, instead of hanging onto them and letting them clutter your house, make a habit of throwing them away daily/whenever you first acquire them (unless you actually need them).
